Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

ThrottleWise is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation dedicated to free rider training. We collect as little personal information as possible, we never sell it, and this page explains plainly what we do collect and why.

Information We Collect

Donations. When you donate, our donation processor Givebutter (and its payment partner Stripe) collects your name, email address, and payment details to process the transaction and send your tax receipt. ThrottleWise never sees or stores your full card number.

Contact. If you email or call us, we receive whatever information you choose to share, and we use it only to respond to you.

Rider accounts. When our rider portal launches, creating a free account will involve an email address and password. An account is never required to watch the lessons — it exists for practice logs, progress history, and future telemetry features. Before the ThrottleWise app ships, we will expand this policy to describe the telemetry data it collects, how long we keep it, and who can access it.

Mailing list. If you ask to join our list, we keep the email address (and any name or location you choose to include) for one purpose: telling you when new Rider Teaching Series lessons are published and when the practice-feedback app is ready. We do not sell or share it, and every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe. Ask us to remove you at any time and we will, promptly.

Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and troubleshooting.

Site statistics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and lessons riders actually use, so we can improve the training and qualify for Google's advertising grant for nonprofits. What we see is aggregate — page views, visit counts, general region, the kind of device — never your name, email address, or precise location, and we have turned off every optional data-sharing setting in our Google Analytics account. If you block analytics in your browser (an ad blocker or the browser's tracking protection does it), every page and video on this site still works fully.

Cookies and Third-Party Services

The ThrottleWise website runs no advertising, and beyond the aggregate site statistics described above it does no tracking of its own. A small number of trusted services we use do set cookies or use browser storage:

Givebutter (donation form) — sets short-lived cookies needed for the form to work securely, a Cloudflare cookie for bot protection, and one analytics cookie that helps Givebutter understand widget usage.
Stripe (payment processing) — sets cookies used for payment security and fraud prevention.
Swarmify (video delivery) — uses browser storage to measure video playback performance; no tracking cookies.
Google Fonts (typography) — serves font files; sets no cookies.
Google Analytics (site statistics) — sets cookies (their names start with _ga) used only to tell one visit from another for the aggregate statistics described above.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. The site's pages and videos work without cookies; only the donation form requires them.

How We Use Information

We use the information above solely to process donations and issue receipts, respond to your messages, operate and improve the website, and meet our legal and tax obligations as a nonprofit. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information — ever.

Sharing

Personal information is shared only with the service providers named above, and only as needed to operate this website and process donations. Each of those providers is bound by its own privacy policy.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your Choices

You may contact us at any time to ask what information we have about you, request a correction, or request deletion. We will honor every reasonable request promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change — for example, when the rider portal launches — we will update this page and its "Last updated" date.
